About Steven Tan
Along with his global CHRO role at CDL, Steven has held senior HR roles at CapitaLand and OCBC Bank, where he was instrumental in implementing a comprehensive Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and developing a shared services business model that significantly improved productivity. He also led the design of compensation schemes, policies, and workforce strategies to support rapid business expansion, enhancing organizational efficiency and alignment.
Steven’s extensive experience includes guiding HR through mergers and acquisitions, public listings, downsizing, international operations, and startups. Known for his proactive approach, Steven has effectively managed complex ownership structures, from government-linked entities to joint ventures, US multinationals, and family businesses.
With a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Bradford, UK, Steven combines technical acumen with a forward-thinking approach to HR strategy. He is recognized for driving organizational transformation, fostering a team-centric culture, and building a reputation for his companies as top employers through strategic, progressive HR practices.
